About this position

Eastside Christian Church is a non-denominational church located on the east side of Cincinnati, OH less than fifteen minutes from downtown. Eastside is led by Lead Pastor Jason Rehmel, who has been on staff for 14 years and Executive Pastor Jay Hess who has been on staff for almost two years. The church currently has two identical in person services offered at 9:30a and 11:00a, which includes a modern style of worship while offering kid’s ministry during the 11:00a service. They also offer “Eastside at Home”, which is their online service for those that are not able to attend currently in person. The church saw around 700 in weekly attendance before COVID-19.

The church is seeking the right candidate to take over as the new Kid’s Pastor to oversee their children’s ministry. The right candidate will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity that align with the church’s overall mission and vision. Below are the requirements and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the Kids Ministry of children birth-5th grade.
  • Lead children and their families to follow Christ.
  • Oversee the setup and operation of all related children’s ministry environments on Sunday morning, including check-in, individual children’s environments, security and check-out.
  • Maintain the consistent teaching in each classroom through the Orange Curriculum.
  • Recruit, train, and develop volunteers for the kids ministry. This is necessary in order to have a healthy rotation of volunteers on a monthly basis to avoid ministry burnout.
  • Organize and oversee events related to the kids ministry.
  • Oversee your ministry’s annual budget.
  • Collaborate with the staff in other ministry events and activities as we strive to be a team oriented staff without ministry silos.
  • Be a model for those who attend Eastside Christian Church by being an example of personal integrity, discipleship, and evangelism.
  • Attend all weekly staff meetings and events.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong believer in Christ and spiritually mature.
  • Passionate about telling kids about Jesus and helping them know Him and seek Him.
  • Passionate about serving parents and resourcing them to parent their children in the Lord well.
  • Passionate about pouring into volunteers that makes them feel loved and cared for, creating a healthy environment for your volunteers to serve in.
  • A proven project manager with strong attention to details and administrative skills.
  • A team player and team builder who focuses on the good of the entire church and staff.
  • Education
    • Preferred candidates should have a bachelor’s degree, but not required.
  • Experience
    • Preferred candidates should have between 1 – 2 years of previous kids ministry experience.

STAFF CULTURE:

  • As a staff member at Eastside you are a part of our family… and we do not want to live in silos. In other words, don’t operate in a vacuum. Invite the staff in, share the challenges, the prayer requests, the celebrations… Be a part of what’s happening in God’s Kingdom at Eastside!
  • Finally – keep your joy. Ministry is a tough job but it is far more than just a job. The enemy will constantly be on the prowl, seeking ways to attack you… to discourage you. Ministry is dealing with people and people can be very difficult and the enemy is very successful at using men against one another. The best defense is staying in a close relationship with Jesus; being in God’s Word every day (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Joshua 1:8); being in prayerful communication with Him at all times (Colossians 4:2; Philippians 4:6); living a life of generosity (1 Timothy 6:17-19); walking in the footsteps of Jesus (1John 2:6)… and one that we forget all too often… “encouraging one another everyday as long as it is called today…” (Hebrews 3:13) and living a life in line with those of the 1st Century Church. (Acts 2:42-47)
